While some celebrities end up in silly battles over the internet, some of them go too far for the public to accept them openly.

According to Variety, Jimmy Kimmel attempted to put an end to his feud with Sean Hannity, which sparked last week after Kimmel made jokes about First Lady Melania Trump.

According to Pop Culture, Kimmel made jokes about First Lady Melania Trump's accent, and Hannity responded to the jokes by calling him an "ass clown" on his show.

Kimmel finally posted a statement on Twitter apologizing for the jokes, claiming that he 'still believes to be a silly aside referencing our First Lady’s accent.'

Hannity then responded to the statement, saying that he would have a 'full and comprehensive' response on Monday’s Hannity.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host and the Fox News personality traded blows on social media, with Hannity even comparing Kimmel to the disgraced film executive, Harvey Weinstein.

In the statement, the host claimed that he will give more thought to his words while also recognizing his role in inciting hatefulness from people who even wished for death on his youngest son.

'By lampooning Sean Hannity's deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize,' Kimmel wrote, among other things.

His apology to the gay community referenced a joke he made at Hannity, asking, 'When your clown makeup rubs off on Trump's behind, does it make his butt look like a Creamsicle?'

The statement, though, didn't seem to be all that good-hearted, as he also wrote that he hoped Hannity would 'continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants, and First Ladies and that he will triumph in his heroic battle against sexual harassment and perversion.'

The situation got completely out of control last week after Hannity called Kimmel an “ass clown” on his show for the First Lady jokes.
